Provenance

Purchased in France, from descendants ( nephews ) of Mademoiselle Denavit, who was a friend of Madame
Andree Valette ( second wife and widow of Adolphe Valette ) and also a collector of Valette's works. Mademoiselle Denavit purchased the house in Blace which Valette and his wife Andree owned and lived in. Mademoiselle Denavit received a number of works from Andree and she agreed to keep them in the attic of the house, which were some of the works that Andree Valette could not take to Jersey when she moved there - ( see Cecilia Lyon's book Adolphe Valette, published by Phillimore in 2006 ).

Exhibited at The Lowry 'Adolphe Valette, a Pioneer of Impressionism in Manchester' in 2011-2012 and bears a label

General Notes

Mademoiselle Denavit received a number of works from Andrée and she agreed to keep them in the attic of the house, these were the works that Andrée Valette could not take to Jersey when she moved there - (see Cécilia Lyon's book Adolphe Valette, published by Phillimore in 2006).
