General Notes

This drawing is from the collection of Lowry's friend, Marjorie Clarke and formed part of a touring exhibition which was put together in 1987 by the First Gallery in Southampton. The exhibition was entitled TWO MEMORABLE MEN: CRISPIN EURICH AND L.S. LOWRY and featured 32 L.S. Lowry Pencil drawings from private collections and 51 photographs by the famous photographer Crispin Eurich.
Between 1987 - 1989 the exhibition toured the country and was shown in many prestigious locations including Salford Art Gallery, Astley Cheetham Art Gallery, Stalybridge, Stockport Art Gallery, Middlesbrough Art Gallery, York City Art Gallery and The Atkinson Art Gallery, Southport.
An illustrated book accompanied the exhibition and is available with the drawing. In 2000 the decision was made to sell the collection at an exhibition held in St Albans. I bought the whole collection and sold Man with a striped Tie in 2000.
