Patrick Heron was a British painter, designer, and writer who was initially influenced by the work of Henri Matisse and Georges Braque. In 1956, he moved to Cornwall, took up abstraction and became a member of the St. Ives School. His paintings were a combination of stripe compositions and more organic shapes, all done in vibrant colors. Heron's books included The Changing Forms of Art in 1955 and The Shape of Colour in 1973.
