Exhibited The Tib Lane Gallery Dec 1976
In the late 1900s Lowry's teacher Adolphe Valette became ill and spent time convalescing in Church Stretton in Shropshire. Whilst there he produced a small number of paintings of the surrounding area, including this watercolour, which he painted en plein air. It was exhibited at the Tib Lane Gallery in December 1976, a month after the very successful Adolphe Valette centenary exhibition at Manchester City Art Gallery ended.
