In 1918 Valette held a very successfull exhibition at Finnigans showrooms in Deansgate Manchester. He showed 100 oils, 22 watercolours and 15 engravings. The show included paintings of Manchester, scenes of the surrounding countryside, coastal scenes and a selection of French paintings. The reviews were excellent. The Manchester Guardian wrote "this is one of the most distinguished single artist exhibitions that has been seen in Manchester for a good many years."
Given the success of the 1918 exhibition, Valette repeated the event in December 1920 with a show of similar themes. Valette also designed the poster for exhibition in which he portrayed himself humourously. Yet again he received very favourable reviews and the exhibition was another huge success. The poster was produced as a lithograph and very few copies have survived.
