Cécilia Lyon's previous book Adolphe Valette, published in 2006 was a best seller and is now out of print. This earlier book focused mainly on Valette's life in France and Manchester and briefly dealt with the period he spent as Lowry's teacher.
This new book offers a much more detailed and unprecedented insight into the relationship between L.S. Lowry and his teacher Adolphe Valette. It is based on extensive research carried out by Cécilia Lyon in the records of the Paris Salons and in the archives of many other institutions, including the Special Collections of the Manchester School of Art. This research has unearthed a wealth of fresh information about the two artists
The 160 page book is illustrated with 112 annotated colour illustrations and is a must read for any lover of northern art. The first 100 books sold will be numbered copies specially signed by Cécilia Lyon.
