The following hand written story is on a label on the reverse.
Grandpa liked to have a picnic on his Birthday. The weather was always warm and sunny, so we all went to Uncle John's in Manchester. Mother and the Aunts baked all sorts of good things including a big birthday cake, so Grandpa, Dad, Prince and the wagonette ready to drive us to Rostherne Mere. Uncle John, Aunt Josephine and our two little cousins followed behind in their dog -cart.
What a lovely day we had, and, oh, what a good tea. Grandpa, we said, wouldn't it be lovely if you had a Birthday every Saturday. Even Mr Taylor (The Bank Manager) was seen holding Miss Carter's hand. Ha well, said Aunt Mary, Perhaps he will propose to her some day and the year was 1907
