General Notes
During the 1930s L.S. Lowry's teacher, Adolphe Valette (1876-1942) left his base in Blace in France and embarked on numerous painting holidays. He travelled extensively in the South of France and once he found a suitable location he would set up his easel in the open air and would paint a series of watercolours and oils on the spot. In 1934 he visited Majorca and bought back as a series of lovely paintings of Palma, Puerto Pollensa, Formentor and Valldemosa.
