General Notes

The hand-written label on the back reads:

At Chadwicks you could buy everything to make your own hats and now that Grandpa had died everyone had to have new mourning clothes and hats, so Mother, George and I and the dogs Gyp and Barney, went with Grandma and the three Aunts to buy the new wire frames and fine black velvet so that Aunt Frances could make them, but Miss Carter (who wore Pink) was very disapproving, she thought we had enough to do without making hats and we ought to have gone to Buckley and Proctors, and the year was 1908.
