Valette used to make many sketching trips to the surrounding areas south Blacé. Chateau de la Tourette is located approximately 170km south of Blacé, near Valence.
The region of Ardéche has many castle ruins. This castle dates back from the XIIIth century.
This painting was made probably between 1930 and 1935.
Another similar painting of the chateau, painted at a different time of the year has sold previously in the gallery.
