General Notes

This painting shows men playing snooker in the Tyldesley Labour Club, known locally as The Cabbage Club. Roger Hampson was born in the Lancashire coal-mining town of Tyldesley and many of his paintings are of the nearby industrial areas and of the local characters he came across.
